I leased a 2017 Volt LT in June (MSRP $35,095). My negotiated pre-incentive dealer price was $31,342 ($3,748 dealer discount). GM employee price for the exact same vehicle is $32,560 ($2,531 discount). So my self-negotiated deal was over $1,200 better than the employee discount. Employee discount is usually GOOD, but if you’re a grinder like ...
The dealers don’t get a full reimbursement of the entire discount. For example the supplier discount on a 2021 Bolt Premier is $1237 – but given feedback from others on this forum, it’s believed the incentive to the dealer is between $500 and $1000. The actual kickback varies by vehicle. @ethanrs is a great resource for these type of ...
I am not a GM employee but I get a discount on all GM parts I buy at my local dealer. I have bought parts there for 30 years and just asked for a discount one day about 15 years ago. The guy said "sure" and I have gotten about 25% off everything since. Recently bought a tranny for a Firebird that was $2000 retail for $1500. Dealer still made money.

Original price was $42,745.00. After discount I only paid $25,900. No one can come close to this deal…it was 16,000.00 off. Not 600. The $660 difference was the difference between what your deal is and the (GMS price for an unused unit less incentives). A brand new unit would get a GMS discount of around $4k.
GM prohibits the sale of vehicles below Employee Price on some models until later in the production. It doesnt mean that the dealer cant sell for lower. It means that if the dealer does, they will not recieve the Employee Price assistance from GM. On a $6000 Employee Price Discount, GM will reimburse the dealer around $2500.
