The Madrona–Sally Goldmark Branch Library (sometimes simply the Madrona Public Library) [1] is a branch of Seattle Public Library, in Seattle, Washington. [2] Serving the Central District, the library originated from the Book-Tique pilot program, established in 1971. It was renamed to commemorate community leader Sally Goldmark in 1986.
The library opened to the public on June 24, 1904. It was the first major branch of the Seattle public library system after Ballard was annexed by Seattle in 1907, and also employed one of the first African American librarians in Seattle. The Ballard Carnegie Library remained in use until 1963, when a newer and more modern facility replaced it.
Suzzallo Library. Suzzallo Library is the central library of the University of Washington in Seattle, and perhaps the most recognizable building on campus. It is named for Henry Suzzallo, who was president of the University of Washington until he stepped down in 1926, the same year the first phase of the library's construction was completed.
