    Whether you want to use Windows Defender or want to install another AV depends on your own preferences and habits. Personally, I prefer a third party product.     Then download Kaspersky Rescue Disk and re-check your PC. Usually this is enough to be sure that you have no viruses. The warning you described could be placed on some Internet page, not by virus on your PC. And I do not recommend switching out of S mode, this may reduce safety.
