I have tried Rename the BHO Folder, modify Internet Options (unticking option "Enable third-party browser extensions"), default browser is already set to IE11, setting in Edge "Let Internet Explorer open sites in Microsoft Edge" is set to "Never" and unable to uninstall Edge as we use that also.

Did you already try changing the default app for the file by right-clicking the file and then click Properties. On its properties, click the change button on Opens with then change back the default app for the file from open with internet explorer. Do report the result here afterward. Thank you.
I have a Gateway mini laptop with Windows 7, IE 9. I switched it on after a few years and Now I cannot access most websites, specifically at the second level. I have tried most of the applicable fixes from the Net, but nothing worked. It is not even updating the Windows 7 and from IE 9 to IE 11. Internet connection is fine.
I am currently using IE7 with XP SP3. When a webpage download with unknown file type loads, I get a prompt asking me what I want to do with the file. My options are FIND SAVE CANCEL.
