I tested both headsets on a different computer- the mics work fine on it, only on my PC does the mic not work. The microphone appears in the Recording Devices menu, but no levels/green bars fluctuate when I speak into the mic.
Another thing to add, I believe its the sensitivity of the microphone because I've tried moving the microphone (that's connected to my headset closer and further away from my mouth however It works to around 63% of total volume when its about a cm away from my mouth, and when its in a comfortable position it's at 5% of total volume.
