(2021-10-08, 11:38) pixeluk Wrote: Some 4K rips are over 100Mbps so even if a Gigabit adaptor is limited to USB 2.0 speeds it’s still sufficiently faster than the 100Mbps adaptors to support smooth playback. Just for info purposes, all systems were streaming media from my home server. The ATV2 and AFTV were using LAN. The AFTV stick is WIFI, of course, but only about 10ft from the WAP. AFTV is using KODI RC2 while AFTV stick is using XBMC 13.2. ATV2 was using XBMC 13.2 also. Definitely would recommend the Amazon devices over the Apple one. the_buzz_man

For example, I have a computer that shares video files on my network, so that my Fire TV/Kodi can access it.

2024-03-05, 06:45. A few years ago, I set a family member up with a Fire Stick 4K (2018), an SMAYS adapter, and a 2 TB hard drive formatted to 1.4 TB FAT32, as anything above 1.4 TB put the stick into a reboot loop. Same thing happened with the CCwGTV Google sent me for free in 2020 for being a YTTV subscriber.

I'm basically in the same boat as the ...

  9. AMLogic S905 (x) - LibreELEC / OSMC - Kodi Krypton - 4K Options. Use the FireTV Stick for (non Kodi) Android Apps only. (2017-07-15, 23:41) jakejm79 Wrote: For pure Kodi use a cheap S905 (X) Android box flashed to LE would offer better performance, connectivity and likely cost about the same.

  10. Any Lollipop firmware is 32-bit. If you run Marshmallow firmware with an ARM7 processor it's still 32-bit. If you have a ARM64 processor and your firmware was built as 64-bit then you can use the 64-bit version. Hardware older than 2 years are also mostly 32-bit. Amazon FireSticks, AFTV 1 are all 32-bit.

Another small info: the RTL adapter took 0.4Watt and the ASIX adapter took 0.7Watt - both numbers measured in idle. The RTL is more power efficient even though it includes USB hub. Conclusion: WiFi on Stick 4K Max 2 gen sucks. Use an USB LAN adapter instead but be careful to choose the right one.
