Esparza was not great -- how could he or anyone have been with the current writing and direction -- but he was still very, very good and I'm glad that after six seasons of a hit network show he probably has enough of a nest egg built up that he can choose all his projects from now on.

Papi Raul Esparza was on the episode I watched tonight. The other one I watched had a British actress who directed Passing, and it turned out her family history had some similarities to that story. Goodness, Raul is handsome. Looks like his Cuban/Spanish family are all quite attractive.
Raul Esparza is a big Cherry Jones fan in a 'Datalounge Mary' kind of way. He also was "married" to a lady for about eight years or so. But, he has since formally divorced her and has come out of the closet. If he still acts like a douche, it might be because he came out as BI but is really a gay man.
R99, I think her snub was a case of the nominators realizing that KC had an exceedingly small bag of tricks (something that the NY critics also realized about Raul Esparza after “Leap of Faith”, BTW). It’s like Judy’s comment after Ray Bolger’s big number in “The Harvey Girls”: “Same Goddamn dance in every movie…”
Loved SEARED. Raul was exceptionally good (as was the entire cast), and the plot (though predictable) played out nicely. The opening of Act 2 - with Raul trying to create a special dish for the menu, and with wonderful aromas wafting through the theater - was especially good.
