I can understand why Etsy might have thought it could be a useful tool, win-win for buyer and seller, because shoppers are being told they don't have to just walk away when the item they want is sold out, and sellers can invest their time and materials in restocking the items that have been getting the most interest and therefore are most likely to sell again.

Community Maker. Saturday. If a shop is known and has a following, then the shopfront is very important. It is part of the brand presentation and a good shopfront can contribute quite a bit to buyer confidence. Same goes for supply shops, which are rarely one-and-done transactions.
Some do. I did a few times early on. Some ask for reviews and get results. Some say it's offensive, spammy, or annoying to ask. Some say it's against Etsy's rules (it's not explicitly stated anywhere to my knowledge). Some feel it's "begging" for reviews. Some have claimed they definitely won't leave a review if asked. Some welcome the reminder.
