    Inserting the charging cable locks the cable in place, as normal. Pressing the button while locked will release it. If the car is charging, pressing the button will stop the charge, and unlock the cable. All in all, an easy enough job if you can solder and it gives a great improvement in usability.

    It was a little unnerving cutting the cable from the charger, but I left the factory terminal rings and enough to reach that first junction box above the charger. Then had to run (3) #6 AWG and (4) #14 AWG (probably could have downsized the ground and the #14's) in the conduit to the fixed point where the cable attaches.

It appears in reality that if one were to install the phone charging cable as shown, the rubber mat will not fit back in place.     Circuit Breaker: apx 95. Ambient air went from about 80 down to about 75 with a light breeze and no direct Sun on the cable. I'd call it warm to the touch but certainly not unbearable. But I might also back it off to 25A since I only need a few hours of charging anyway and hopefully not warm up the circuit as much.

    Included with the car is a mobile connector that can charge on a normal 120v outlet (gets around 3 miles per hour). They also give you a J1772 adapter for non-tesla charging stations. The 14-50 adapter ($35/not included) will allow you to use your 14-50 outlet with the mobile connector. So you really just need to buy the 14-50 adapter.
