I am streaming through a avermedia capture card and using a steel series artic nova pro headset (with the audio mixer DAC) if that makes any difference. However, I'm not getting any alert sounds through my desktop speakers, and yet youtube works fine. So it's definitely something between OBS and the botrix website.
