I have a friend that has made custom furniture for about 30 years. he says much of teh Ethan Allen furniture is very over poriuce considering the wood used and the fact that you can get the same furniture qaulity at much cheaper prices.Much of it is made overseas by cheap labor to the design of ehtan allen the same as alot of furnture now days in same plants.

Ethan Allen is good quality but I think it is overpriced; you can get furniture that is just as good for less money. A good place to look for "apartment-sized" furniture is Crate and Barrel, surprisingly enough. Not everything there is reasonably priced but some of it is.
PS: Some years ago, when I bought 5 very large solid oak pieces for a bedroom set (a huge 7 drawer dresser, armoire, 2 nightstands, and a king-size headboard/frame) at Ethan Allen, I did negotiate a substantial discount off the tag prices. It didn't hurt to ask and they were willing to accomodate me.
We had a couple of armchairs, both from Ethan Allen that I wanted to donate. Salvation Army wouldn't take either one. Each of those chairs was over $1000 (one was almost $2000), and they'd been in my upper-middle class home for years.

There is a Whole Foods, Wegman's, Costco, Ethan Allen furniture store, Zale's and Jared Jewelry, and then there's the Park City Mall. Obviously there's money in this areas, but I just don't understand where all these people are working to afford these higher end retailers.
