I have noticed that Wayfarer is often used generically as a term for faux horn-rimmed glasses in general, even for regular eyeglasses, but see no mention of this in the article. You can see a lot of eyeglass designs from the 50s and 60s which these days are frequently described generically as Wayfarer style.
