First, there is no "2.7 XP version". I think you are referring to the Windows Vista version of Windows Movie Maker 2.6 that is basically a CPU-only version using the XP code for those on Vista that didn't have a powerful enough GPU. The last version launched in 2012 with the release of Windows 8. Since then, the software has been in maintenance mode. Even though the software firm promised to remove the software by January 10, 2017, its still available for download.

Although Windows Essentials (which includes Movie Maker) is not supported (won't get any updates) anymore, you still can download the offline installer. During the installation you can choose which programs you want to install. Windows Essentials latest version 16.4.3528.0331:

I love Windows Movie Maker but have upgraded to Windows 10 which does not support it. Please, please direct me to a program that is similar.
